Frame Construction

All frame components are made with selected quality hardwood throughout, and are produced with kiln dried solid grade alder. Frames have interlocking parts for strength and support. All joints are doweled, glued, screwed, corner blocked and stapled using a time-honoured method of frame construction. This allows us to produce a strong durable frame, with a 25-year warranty.

All seat springs are 8 gauge, no-sag springs, attached to the hardwood using Teflon coated clips to prevent spring pull out. Back springs are 12 gauge, no-sag springs, attached to the hardwood using Teflon coated clips. Seat and back springs are attached in 5” intervals and are reinforced or tied with “Flexcon” 16 gauge wire. Springs are covered with a decking material for support behind foam cushioning. Specific models incorporate “ultra flex” continuous stretch webbing as seat deck support. The spring system has a 25-year warranty.

All foam is commercial grade, high density and fire retardant, and passes California Technical Bulletin #117 fire safety standards. Seat spring surfaces are padded with a protective padding or decking material. Inside back spring surfaces are covered with a protective backing over springs followed by 4” thick fire retardant foam with a density of 1.25-1.35 lbs. All outside frame edges, inside arms, and front edges are coved with 1 ½” fire retardant foam padding. Seat cushions range from 4” to 6” thick depending on the style, with a density of 1.95-2.05 lbs. Seat cushions are wrapped in Dacron to add shape and to prevent fabric from creeping and slipping. All foam carries a 10-year warranty

All sleepers are supplied with a Leggett & Platt Classic-Square 3500 series tubular commercial grade mechanism, designed for use in the hospitality market with a 3-year warranty.

Sleeper units are equipped with a 6” mattress available in regular, deluxe or pillow top. Mattresses are 4” 252 coil, 3/8” super soft foam quilted on one side, 3/8” comfort foam, and 3/8” insulating fibre on both sides.
